Why do people assume this? If anything, when I graduated from college
and started making enough money to support myself a few years ago, I
became *more* liberal. I don't give much money to charities, but I do
volunteer a lot.
And yes, social programs do cost money, but I don't need to buy a new
car every year and my expendable income covers my hobbies even with the
large chunk of my paycheck that comes out in taxes. I don't mind that
tax money going to social/community organizations as long as it's
beneficial to everyone here at home. As it stands now, the majority of
the tax money I pay is headed toward wars and that benefits almost no
one here in our country.
So I'll keep being a socially-minded liberal and you can consider it a
phase if you want. But I have a pretty strong feeling that it isn't.
