I figure I'd toss in a last note. I'm not going to weigh in on the
whole political discussion right now, but I did want to mention
something on foreign appearances. I have several friends/pen-pals in
foreign countries. I remember around from before 9/11 up till around 5
months (I think) before we actually invaded Iraq - they were all very
supportive of the US and our policies. Part of this of course was
9/11. It was when we started to make aggressive actions against Iraq
that I distinctly remember a change in viewpoints. Afghanistan was
seen as acceptible, and necessary due to the country supporting
Terrorism. However, as said, about the time we started making moves
towards Iraq, a lot of the people I talked to all of a sudden started
hating the US, or at least, Bush. SO, there is a lot of foreign
dislike right now of the US. This is a fact. Now, does everyone in
other countries hate the US? Of course not, no, but it's pretty
prevalent overall. And, considering exports and "global economy",
foreign policy does matter a great deal.
