Excellent.

If I only had 2, then...

OK, so my big problem with (2) is that this has not worked in the
past. Once upon a time, my mom gave me a very nice (but not
horrificly expensive) Swiss watch she got on a trip to Europe. It was
stylish, but wasn't the kind of thing you felt you could wash your
hands while wearing. So it was gone inside of 6 months. I'm also
very hard on watches. In my youth, a crystal would last me about 9
months on average, and my former watches are all little bits of
twisted metal.

Ah; that might be promising if a bit Windows-y.

See reply above. The day I spend $1-2K on a watch is the day the
ghost of my dead mother will arise from her grave and strangle me with
a chain or something.

So the $30 watch that lasts 2-3 years works out to $.03 per day. As
it turns out, I think I can justify something maybe 5x that, but a
Rolex on me would over a buck a day of depreciation. Non-optimal for
my situation, although I do agree with the sentiment.

I probably do spend a lot more on shoes than I do on a watch
currently, but I don't know many people who don't. If I wore nothing
but sneakers, I would probably wear out 3 pairs per year, which would
come up to about $150, or about $.40 per day. My actual shoe mix is a
bit different, but works out to the same cost.
