Or you could just get a cell phone with an external display.  Then you
will always have the correct time, and you can subscribe to any number
of information services.  Plus can even use it to, you know, call
people :-)  You can get a nice phone with all kinds of geeky features
for under $500 easily.

Better yet, isn't $0.50/day what it costs to feed a starving child in
Africa?  You could do that for 10 years and you wouldn't even have to
shell out all the money at once.
