Something has me a little peeved.
I am tired of all these pundits, including Governor Dean, who are
criticizing the Office of Homeland Security, saying these terror level
notices are only being done for political reasons.
First, these are the very same people that are saying that Bush and the
White House gang ignored the intelligence about the 9-11 attacks. There was
no specific intelligence that said that the 9-11 attacks would take place,
yet these people want to blame the President's council for ignoring this
so-called intelligence.
Now, when they feel they have some specific intelligence, these people want
to say they the president is politicizing the alert process. What a load of
hooey. I think this is a case of people being overly cautious now. I think
they want to let people know about any pieve of information they may have.
When the next attack happens no one can say they have not been warned.
Yes, I think we are in a period of boy-who-cried-wolf attitudes. It
certainly seems like there are new terror warnings every week. There have
been so many that I doubt anyone could tell you what the terror level was
today. (Elevated) However, I also feel that these alerts are necessary. I
did see how New York stepped up protection at some of the identified
targets. Do we know if this increased security saved a lot of lives or not?
We probably would never know and I personally like it that way.
I can say that this increased level has brought some good arrests of Al
Qaeda. This latest arrest is a significant one despite what the political
brain dead want to claim. To me this proves that the Bush administration is
still on the job. I just wonder what a President Dean might have done with
the same intelligence and I wonder what a President Kerry might do with that
intelligence. Since neither of them are talking about their plans, it is
only a guess what they would do.
