Johann,
Actually my second son was conceived while my wife was taking the pill.
There is not 100% effective birth control, and anyone who thinks there is
had better become a little more educated.
Even you made a choice to have sex. You should have been smart enough to be
aware of the risks, if you were not, I question your intelligence in having
sex in the first place. That was the point it is not about protected or
unprotected sex, it is about a choice you made to have sex even though there
was a chance that you would have a child.
I was a freshman in 1979, and where I went to school, Fatima high school in
Westphalia Missouri, there were a few virgins around still not many but a
few. When I reached high school age it was even harder to find them.
And yes, I still say that anyone at 14 that gets pregnant has more serious
issues affecting their life than simply whether to have an abortion or not.
I am firmly convinced that a 14 year old does not have the mental ability to
adequately make the choice to have sex, much less decide to have an abortion
or not, but you are right, it has become everyday occurrence.

As someone with a child who was conceived from having sex while wearing
a condom with a woman on the pill, I take some exception to the idea
that any unplanned pregnancy was due to rampant unprotected sex. Just
ain't true.
Additionally.... I don't know when you were last in high school, but
when I was there virgins were pretty tough to find. Even among
freshman. I guess everyone in my generation has "pretty serious issues"
to deal with. But then, who doesn't?
