I'd like to point out that 90% or better of most rapes (this is just a
guesstamate based on what I've heard from rape awareness people) never
even result in conditions that could even cause fertilization. The
number of actual pregnancies that probably result from rape are not that
many. If you make a law banning abortion except in cases of rape or
incest, would it not be possible for women who don't want the child and
don't respect the fathers to pin them with rape? Only two people know if
it were consensual, and one of them would have to be lying. Yeah, tear
up that reasoning, but you know that would come up.
Another thing, why is it so wrong to counsel these girls? Make them take
a day to rethink? Offer other alternatives before abortion? Why is it
that the publicly funded clinics are so against simple common sense
rules like this being implemented?
I have a sister-in-law who is starting her medical career. She was
really disturbed when they had to cover the medical issues around a
pregnant mother having to undergo chemo. It's a tough decision, but it's
the mothers decision. There are always some alternatives, but the
choices are tough. I think doctors are afraid of having their hands tied
when trying to do the right thing, that's the bad part of the
legislation, but I don't think that is why most people are against a
ban.

If you ask me for public policy I'll tell you abortion is fine for rape
or
incest and let God handle it. Lots of education about adoption though.
If my wife were raped and became pregnant I'd raise the child as my own.
Yeah -
it'd be hard.
