On the contrary - I've no problem with much better sex ed - as long as it is
accompanied by a very simple lesson - you are responsible for your actions. I
really don't have a problem at all with improved access to birth control - with
the same caveat. The core lesson here being that we all make decisions and those
decisions have consequences.
Teenage guys are notoriously aggressive drivers. I was - I am 24 years old and
have 23 speeding tickets (most of them in high school). I made decisions to
accept those risks. In HS, my girlfriend and I didn't have sex. Strong religious
lessons, positive peer pressure, and a fundamental understanding of what could
happen kept hormones in check. I didn't bitch about paying for my tickets or not
getting laid - I lived with my decisions. By the same token if I had knocked her
up I would've had to live with it.
Sex is a choice, and pregnancy is also a choice. I ran into a couple (I was just
talking to the girl) in college that had unprotected sex because he hated
condoms. Thing is - she "just couldn't remember" to take her pill and "was
really afraid" of getting pregnant. They were not responsible enough to have
sex. If they weren't responsible enough to have sex, they damn sure weren't
responsible enough for the child they were getting ready to make.
Here's another one - if you cannot financially afford a child then don't have
one. It is irresponsible.
Enough of my ramblings
