OK, so an opportunity has just come up for me to buy a "new" 2003
Passat GLS wagon (black) for X% below invoice where X is currently
being negotiated via phone tag. On the website they claimed 3%
below, over the phone he said 5% below, but then needed to check
with the "sales manager". A good guess is that 4% below is their
real price point.

So the point about this is that while a new car (never been sold),
it does have (from his memory) 2800 miles on it. Clearly it's been
test-driven a lot, and probably been used as a short-term loaner,
etc. I think the reason it went unsold is that it has the dreaded
"upside down Guinness" color scheme inside (tan velour upholstery,
black dashboard) which we, in our extreme graciousness, will
overlook.

In any case, if we get the new vehicle warranty, a confirmatory
CARFAX report, a copy of the unblemished rapair log, an oil change
at the outset, and their undying gratitude, is there anything else
we should look out for when buying a 2003 this close to the 2005
season?
