The reality is that the Republicans are more up front with their support 
for corporations that would be adversely affected by regulations on 
emissions, etc., and they are likewise more dubious of the evidence that 
humans are influencing global warming trends.  But who said the Vice 
President was a Republican in the film -- I don't recall any mention of 
party affiliation.

Another funny thing -- the Vice President was skeptical about the claims 
of one scientist that we needed to do something about global warming.  He 
was very reasonable to have doubts.  They told us repeatedly in the movie 
that there are many models of global temperature change and they predict 
different things.  No one knows which model is correct.  That was true, 
but there is no model where the temperature plummets by 10 degrees F per 
second!  They added that one just for fun.

Yes -- it was *funny* -- that's what I'm trying to tell you.  They made 
the movie funny on purpose.  It's fun to go to a funny movie.  You should 
have had more fun with it!!  ;-)

The bit with Mexico was especially funny.  Americans were told to evacuate 
their country and go to Mexico.  The President ordered this and didn't 
even think to mention to Mexico that he was sending most of our population 
down for a visit.  The Mexicans stopped the Americans at the border, but 
many just waded across the Rio Grande to sneak into Mexico.  I thought it 
was pretty funny!

The President got stuck in DC so the VP had to take over.  He was in 
Mexico when he made his apologetic speach.

Now you're just being silly.  We know how far from the Sun the Earth is 
and we would know if we're getting closer to the Sun.
