The other problem for me with this movie was the political jabs it takes.
Yeah we all know republicans are evil, they want to poison the air, poison
the water, they want to be isolationists and destroy the world for everyone
else. Everyone knows this is the view point of the folks in Hollywood.

I guess this movie just turns out to be one of those movies where they just
want to make sure that you are not mistaken that they feel this way.

Frankly I think it was so blatant to be on the side of comical. I never got
to the end, but I understand there was a scene where the vice president was
making a speech in Mexico. Funny how we can even get illegal immigration
issues embedded in the movie.

I am always interested in good fiction. I love special effects. The effects
I saw really were week in my opinion. I do not think they were in the same
league as Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, or even Star Wars Episode One.

To me this movie reminded me of the movie Twister. I understand in Twister
they had the special effect and decided to make a movie around it. I wonder
if this is the case.

Of course there is always the argument about global warming too. Is it
really an issue? Or is this a natural phenomena we are experiencing in the
world. How can we be so arrogant to know everything that can happen in the
world in 100 years (100 years of climate record keeping).

I think it could be as plausible that there are interstellar forces reacting
on the earth and the sun that is causing this issue. I mean how do we even
know that the earth is not spiraling into the sun, each year getting closer
and closer to the sun? Has anyone gotten out there with a tape measuer and
measured the distance?

Anyway food for thought in my opinion.

I don't disagree but fiction works SO much better when it doesn't take
an Act of Congress to suspend your disbelief! ;-P
