Yes, I agree that there is little chance of convincing each other, at least in
the short term. But I find this particular group very stimulating - there are
people from so many different points of view, who are actually willing to engage
in discussion, that seems to stay relatively civil. Whenever I have some
opinion, about most anything (politics, religion, computers, local restaurants),
I find this forum is a great place to express myself, because the responses are
so varied and interesting and honest. It certainly helps me sharpen or modify
my views if I am prepared to air them out in public, and allow others to
critisise them.
