>I disagree. There are problems with group marriages, in that they tend towards being a man and his female servants. In cultures that support group marriages, one gender is dominant, and it winds up as a servant-master relationship. Heinlein and other sci-fi authors I've read suggest a variation where there are multiples of both genders, but all instances required rather flat characters that reminded me all too much of the excessively polite cartoon gophers.

I'd be more interested in the multiple partners of each myself.. which
isn't all that uncommon either though I forget the technical term for
that right now. Really with any marriage one person is going to tend to
be dominant if it's going to work very well. Not to the point of one
being the slave, I hope, but it's still the natural way of any
relationship. Of course often group marriages are used as an excuse to
keep a harem but that doesn't mean that the two are equivilant.

>As for homosexual marriage, I think it's wrong, but I also think it's their mistake to make, not mine to condemn. As long as slides of the honeymoon aren't forced on me, I'm not harmed by it, and see no reason I should have a say in the matter.

Exactly. IMO any group of two or more people of any gender that want to
consider themselves married should be allowed to do so. It certainly
isn't hurting me. I wouldn't give them any special rights over the
normal 1 man + 1 woman marriages though.
