No, it is an important distinction. This may shape how people view government and social order, but the actual government and social order are bound by written laws. High ideals and $.25 might get you a cup of coffee (assuming you avoid starbucks). You should realize that the law falls short both in writing and enforcement, of these ideals for very real and unavoidable reasons, both good and bad. In the end, it is the law we have to follow, not a purpose statement written long before the current government came into existance.
