I disagree with your logic, it's every citizen, not every union. It is your choice, upbringing, or your genetics, depending on which argument you want to take, that leads to a homosexual vs. a heterosexual "union". The same arguments can be made for why people become alcoholic if you believe its genetics, or why people rob banks, if you believe its choice or upbringing. We discriminate against alcoholics and robbers, based on the same logic. This isn't a matter of something they have a right to, this is a matter of do we have a right to say they can't. Since nobody is harmed by it, we don't have the right to say they can't.
