Most of the new student housing I've seen advertised that's that far
off campus is quite...swanky. But right now, I believe some of
rooms in the Regency Whatever downtown are being used as temporary
housing for foreign students, so it's not too bizarre an idea.

Well, Parkade Center got turned into more of an offices/phone bank
kind of place. The decrepit strip mall on Broadway (where Gerbes
is) has gone into office-y stuff as well. The Biscayne Mall
building was apparently never that great to begin with, and Kroenke
was obviously burning off the remaining leases at Biscayne and
didn't really want new tenants. And now Famous Barr is making him
move the Wal*Mart.
Gee, maybe he's going to put a hotel there. :-)
