Hello, MLUGers.
I'm new to the list, it's a new year, and this is my first post,
so I hope you'll forgive me if I have crossed some boundary of social grace here.
I've recently obtained some more round tuits this holiday season and a new
resolve to go along with the new year. With that in mind, I'd like to announce a
new LUG in the region, centered in St. Louis, called ArchLUG
(http://www.archlug.org/).
Our homepage is http://www.archlug.org/ and we're inviting y'all to drop by and
feel welcome if you choose to linger.
We have available some resources geared to low barrier-of-entry interactions to
support Linux and FLOSS adoption and use in the greater region and its general
population. This includes inter-LUG and outreach efforts with our geographically
nearby LUGs, such as MLUG, TSLUG, LUG:NG, LUCI, SILUG, and others. We don't
currently have "official" or "scheduled" meatspace meetings, but support those
LUGs that do, however we can.
We present for your online enjoyment and erudition:
* a Wiki (Kwiki) - http://www.archlug.org/kwiki
* a Calendar (also wiki-based!) http://www.archlug.org/kwiki/ArchLUGCalendar
And anyone can create new calendars, too. :=)
* a Forum (phpBB-based) - http://www.archlug.org/forum
* a Linux-By-Example wiki - http://www.archlug.org/linux-by-example/
* Plenty of RSS feeds for the above content for your inner blogger.
And they're integrated right into the ArchLUG Kwiki, too. :=)
We also have an arrangement to be yet-another-mirror site of KSPEI at
http://ftp.archlug.org/pub/, which is really just http://ftp.silug.org/pub/.
You'll find plenty there to grab, or when other mirrors can get swamped.
My primary goal with this message is to introduce ArchLUG and our
Linux/OpenSource/LUG resources to you. So, here's the obligatory "tagline":
ArchLUG - Your gateway to Linux and Open Source resources
for St. Louis region individuals, businesses, and community.
Feel free to make use of our resources, stop by, contribute, just watch, or ask
us for support in some Linux/FLOSS-related project, whether it be for MLUG,
yourself, servers, desktops, or for your work, community, or home.
Feel free to email me off-list about ArchLUG for any reason.
Again, I apologize if this comes across as too 'spammy' for the list.
Happy New Year to all,
mike/
