Probably so. Groups such as that definately have a stronger sense of
family and community. I'm actually sort of envious but I know it's
largely my own fault I don't have such a network to support me. I just
don't feel that sort of strong connection to large groups of people.
I've made some attempts to create such a network but overall I find I
don't feel like I have much in common with anybody. To a small degree I
find MLUG to be something of my community but not so much I'd ask anyone
here to co-sign loans for me or give me money. At least not to ask and
expect to get it. Back when I had a decent income and place to live of
my own and stuff I tried letting people live at my place, eat my food,
etc but it seems that just giving isn't enough to make people feel bound
to return the favor. I think common experiences and tribulations are
important and I guess I'm missing that aspect.
On the other hand I have had some very good friends that have really
been there for me when I needed it.. a little but great community.
