Objectivity is a goal, for some people. Reporters *try* to

Do they claim to achieve perfect objectivity? I don't think so.
They claim to try to be objective. No such effort is made though. When you're expressing blatant opinion and calling it news, you're not trying to be objective.
It seems to me that things have changed with Fox News. We
used to make a
clearer distinction between news and opinion.
News: "Man bites dog"
Opinion: "Tragic news today, as a dog is maliciously attacked and bitten by a man."
When was the last time you heard "news" that wasn't just someone's opinion?
AP does a decent job of objectivity, but news never appears objectively outside of print.
