Stardust did deploy some special shields prior to entering the "danger
zone", but it was apparently still a pretty dicey situation.
Additionally, a couple maneuvers were required for camera and antenna
alignment, and there was apparently a lot of associated risk, again due
to the fact that the area was full of debris. Just some interesting
stuff, thought you might like to know...
