I don't know who Jon is, but
The questions you're asking can easily be
answered from a CPS' High School Phycology Class,
unfortunately i threw my Class papers away when I graduated.

There is a Group of people who can remember Faces and Shapes better
than Numbers a Letters.  For some Chunking or breaking down Letters and
numbers is easier than Shapes and Faces.

I think there's a group for both of those kind of memory.
