OK. My problem is not in composition. The problem is at the receiving
end. But....

OK. Now we're getting somewhere. The problem I had was in reading files,
not in composing them. But you are right -- it is possible to configure
both line lengths (incoming and outgoing) independently in "Mail Options"
"General Preferences" on Yahoo.com. I set "Screen Width: (viewing plain
text mail)" to 99 (the max), tested it, and it worked. Thanks!
I couldn't find similar configurability in Hotmail.com. Does it exist?
Mike
