As farfetched as it seems, I agree with Nathan on this, the whole reason guns are feared is because of a recent tendency towards careless use of guns. This is because people have stopped respecting them, and just put a handgun in their pocket or purse "for protection" with absolutely no idea how to use it, and this notion that when they pull it out they'll get a Clint Eastwood high that lets them beat the bad-guys.
