One of these days when you either have nothing much to do or a
burning need to do something with postscript, I suggest a thorough
study of the available documentation on gs, ps2pdf, psutils, and
friends. They can really save your life.

I think there are now more modules for PDF-writing, and I believe
there are php and pythong equivalents, too, now.
On a related note, it *is* kind of weird that Adobe seems to be
stuck having only the second or third best PDF viewer on the planet
right now.
