I suggested something like that with your home movies there and the idea 
wasn't liked. *shrugs* I don't see keeping data alive as much of a 
problem as long as there is somebody to reproduce it every so often. Of 
course I get off on storing and indexing data so possibly it's just some 
weird thing with me that nobody else has in common. ;)

Of course if I were doing this in that sort of quantities I'd have whole 
fileservers I dropped in, made backups to, and pulled back out and put 
in my vault. I wouldn't mess with any storage medium that couldn't hold 
a few terabytes of data.. so it'd almost have to be the entire fileserver.
