I have to say, this monkey isn't all that random. He changed "God,
indivisible" to "Donkey Kong," which nicely improves the meter of the
pledge. This is the original pledge:
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for All
Here's how it was changed by the conservative McCarthyite anti-communists
of the early 1950s ("under God, " was added):
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation, under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for All
My point is, by using "under Donkey Kong," which has the same number of
syllables as "indivisible," the Random Monkey has given us back the meter
of the original pledge.
Thank you, Random Monkey!!
Mike
