The thing to watch out for is people who don't know a slide rule from a ruler on a string. I asked around town when I was learning how to use mine, and got directed to a graphic art studio. They showed me a big straight-edge on a board that slid up and down to guide someone drawing lines on paper.

Incidentally, nobody in Jefferson City knows how to use one and admits it. Plenty think they do though. The closest I got was an engineering professor at Lincoln U. that after looking at it for a few minutes figured out how to use the multiplication scale. Nobody at UMR did either, by the way. I finally had to sit down and reverse engineer it to figure out how to do anything useful with it.
