Well... Afterstep was the original lightweight WM... since it was around for years before gnome or kde...
and though it has *all* of the features available that you'll find in a "heavyweight", none of them slow the beast down.
Furthermore, it's modular and fully configurable... so if you want nothing on your screen, that's what you get. :)
Personally, I take big advantage of vertical toolbars and lots of transparency effects. And I like my 10 dockapps in my wharf.

I like HackedBox. It's about as simplistic as you can get. No frills, no
bloat. Unless you add them on purpose you have no icons, panels, or other
