i thought the new columbia library was supposed to be wired for just such a
reason? i live about a block away, i'm sure i can check it out sometime.

i've got a laptop that i want to build a very minimal system on....i don't
want a lot of the things that come on full distro's so if anyone has
experience building from scratch...i'm very interested.

i'm sure the columbia library has a site that should have the info we need.

SuSE 8 disks. I have even older distro's of slackware and RH. The existing
keyboard is PC/AT and the mouse is serial, but I have a USB card as well.
It's a 500mhz with 64mb of ram. I've got crossover, normal cable, and a
4-port hub if anyone wants to bring another PC. Also I have a laptop with no
data input other than a keyboard (still doesn't recognize its NIC). It has a
partial install of slackware, if anyone wants to play with it and see what
magic they can do. If nothing else, it could support any demonstration based
around VI. ;-)

given up on using power strips, none of the power companies in Missouri seem
to realize that a 20 second power outage is not a good thing. 60 seconds and
they start to care, but not too much. An hour and they might actually do
something about it.
