Wow, Mike, you read my mind! :) I've been having this idea myself for a while
now. Between my job and my family, if I get any free time outside of the two,
I'd rather spend it having a drink in a relaxing athmosphere talking to
intelligent people. Problem is, there isn't much free time, and picking a good
place is not easy. But here it is, anyway:
I'll be at Willie's for a beer on Wednesday night, June 25, at 6 o'clock. If
no one shows up, I'll make an honest effort not to cry no matter how
"influenced" I will be. All my previous beer offers to some of the fine folks
from MLUG still stand (and you know who you are :).
Regarding alcohol: It seems to be one of those subjects that everyone in
Missouri knows everything about and can make interesting assumptions about
practically on the fly. Yet many people I have met here don't really know much
about drinking. Some ideas expressed in this thread are simply puzzling. Let
me provide an analogy. If I don't engage in frog-swallowing or
body-handing-by-meat-hooks, am I qualified to criticize such activities? Or
does anyone wants to hear my opinion about them? I don't think so. Do I know
what they do to the body and soul? How would I if I don't practice them???
Would I go to a frog-swallowing, Linux-loading party? Probably not, but I
surely wouldn't disparage the organizers for denying me a MLUG meeting.
This is a call for an unofficial activity not sponsored in any way by MLUG or
by MU or any other organization. I don't get many other chances to meet my
fellow MLUGers face to face.
Cheers,
