There have been lack of meetings really for several years now. WHen i was
in columbia there weren't very many. If i were BACK in columbia, I think
i'd actually offer to take over. I am tempted to do that with the LUG
here just so we can do other activities other than our monthly meetings,
which i enjoy, but i think we could do more, at least with Installfests
ors newbie stuff. I know Michael has some ideas for LUG meetings and fests
of sorts. We were tempted to start a LUG when were in Trenton and get the
guys from Truman and the neighbroing areas around... and maybe see about
teaching a linux course at the community college in Trenton. But we hadn't
gotten that far, and i left again.

I agree, no alcohol at official meetings due to well, you are rather under
University care here. ;) and University events really shouldn't 'promote'
alcohol. BUT the going out for a beer at Berg witht he LUG guys sometimes
would be JUST fine! :)

Unfortunately most of the women i know into LInux are not in missouri and
not very many around Las Vegas in that part either. I have one friend who
adores Suse and her Mac computers. and i'm getting a girl in my study
group into linux. There are women, and lots of them, just not many around
missouri, and most in the US not really in these areaas i guess. A lot of
US women i know are mostly like california i think. and some in Oregon.
Most of the women on the Linuxchix list are out of country. mostly
Australia or europe. Try hitting the CS department for any women in there,
or the engineering departments for women students :) If i were out there,
i'd try to do a more sciency kind of demo for ppl, might get some interest
there.
