There was an article on running sshd this way as well which I've been 
using on some of my machines for quite awhile now, and it works pretty 
well for running a "special" sshd, for example, between two cluster 
nodes so root can "ssh other" and run quick commands on the standby node.

I can't imagine that it would be that difficult to expand this to other 
usefull programs as well, but I have seen errors where init is trying to 
restart the daemon too quickly, so it throttles itself.
