With recent immigrants things are a little different. It must really foul
up the expected genotype-phenotype relation (which isn't exactly
overwhelming in the first place). But I will be interested to see how the
children of these poor immigrants turn out. If they have large numbers of
kids (and Mexican immigrants often do), I won't be surprised if they don't
do very well. The second generation might be a lot better.
