Actually I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of interest group formed
as a combination of hobbyists and corporate interests be the first to
really colonize space and make space travel practical for the average
person. The government better get used to not collecting taxes and such on
these kinds of things if they aren't the service provider. I can just
imagine the governments great behavior once hobbyists start outclassing
them. With the much money to be made (endless amounts.. virtually
unlimited natural resources exist in space) things might get ugly should
there be any real competition.
