Hey guys...
I need to write / beg / borrow /steal / or find some URL(s) that will allow me
to do some funkie stuff with HD read heads... I am attempting the impossible
(recovering data off of a crashed 40 gig Wester Digital drive) Actually have
2 drives that are clickey (both western digital) And I am needing to tell
the read heads to stop slaming into the platters and read from the outter
track to the inner track and I can invert the data later... Anyone know of
something that will do this... I have a full version of OnTrack Easy
Recovery PRO (www.ontrack.com)... great stuff but this is hardware level, the
bios hates me now...
I have tried the usual: Freezing, impacting, cursing, EzRecover Software,
Linux, more cursing, different controler cards from a identical drive, lots
of cursing, etc...
My last resort is to crack the case/insert a spacer and or replace the spacer
on the read head park magnet (cause of the problem) but If I can get software
to do the job of a clean room I am all for it... If not I will post pictures
of the construction of a personal clean room... :(
Thanks in advance
George
