For the cost of a decent multi-disc DVD you can get a cheap computer with
video out and a DVD drive and rip as many DVD's as you want to the unit. I
am in the process of doing just that and once I get a remote control
working for the machine it'll really kick ass.

I haven't been impressed by HDTV so far. Some of the plasma screens look
nice but none of those high-tech tv's is worth their price. I do like how
some of them are really thin though and can hang on the wall. I think
these screens of flexible plastic will hit the market before the current
bunch of HDTV stuff has dropped in price enough to survive though. From
what I understand they will be high resolution and reasonably cheap and
will start hitting the market this year or next. You can't do much better
than a large screen tv you can roll up and carry with you.
