I find it interesting that this kind of waste (buying the printer for the
print cartridge) is usually caused by some gross distortion of normal
pricing. Back in the day, Soviet farmers would use loaves of bread to
feed their pigs because the price of bread was manipulated to keep it
cheap, while animal feed was not... These days, it's a combination of
loss-leading on printers and a maniacal devotion to non-interoperability
and enforcement of (lame) IP rights that keep inkjet printer cartridges
so expensive. It's ridiculous right now, but this too shall pass...
