Take a look at http://evms.sourceforge.net/, i'm planning on emerging this
on my gentoo box with the fibre array.  Includes LVM support along with
lots of other goodies.

Also, another thing, i'd suggest fibre channel drives from Seagate for the
Freesoftware iso storage, as you can get a box of 10 brand new seagate
18.2GB 10000 rpm fibre channel disks off ebay for less than $100 plus
shipping.  The card to access them runs $30-70.  I'd donate a couple of
18.2 drives for the server if the consensus says yes.
