here is a point I have not heard in the media coverage or discussion of the
tuition snafu

As UM staff we all can take my classes at 75% fee rate, I have been for
several years now.
the full fees are placed as a benefit on my W2 as part of gross income.

in short I have been taxed on fees as income that should not have been
charged to me.

is this tax fraud?

I assume there is only a small chance I will get back the 25% portion I paid
and no chance that my department can do a charge back for the portion they
were originally charged for.

can I go after the taxes I paid and recover that portion? should that be
part of this class action suit?
