At least with tabs I can keep my thoughts in groups (movable tabs would be
nice though).. is better than a random mess of windows.

Might see if you can use Mozilla as a tabbed terminal if you feel like
fooling around. I've been making it so that the Mozilla-based mud client
(a terminal program) sits under a single browser tab and allows multiple
sessions to be tabbed under itself. As it's Mozilla based it also does
interesting things like handling HTML. So if the program returns an image
url it is displayed as it would be in a web page. Could have some
interesting possibilities as a local or sssh client.
