You're making it harder for the rest of us. :-) I think what we need here is a little deffinition of terms.... Well, there's geek, a person who is facinated with tinkering and all things scioentific and engineered. And then there is the nerd. Someone who is so socialy inept as to make a girl fake illness so she can get out of the date. Geek might mean that the person has some nerd tendencies, but that's not an absolute. You don't have to be a geek to be a nerd either. A female friend of mine had a date with a very geeky guy. He had built a supercomputer for fun in his spare time, so I think he qualifies as a geek. During the date he talked way too much about technical things, which she didn't like. He was really into making didgeridoos (Australian aboriginal musical instrument) but she wasn't really interested in that either. While they were driving somewhere he offered to stop at Menards and show her how to construct a didgeridoo using PVC pipe. She declined the invitation. After that she decided to fake illness so that he'd drive her home. No, it wasn't me, but I think I can pick bad topics for conversation, just not that bad.
