I'm at UCLA right now. We just went on a little tour of campus the other
day and part of the tour was to visit Human Genetics in the "Gonda
(Goldschmied) Neuroscience and Genetics Research Center." It's a modern
building with plenty of modern art hanging on the walls. One piece was
just a solid green square with the title "Really Green."

Then, tonight, I went to the Getty Museum. It's really something to see.
If you ever get out this way, you should definitely check it out. It's
free to get in. The art is mostly very old -- lots of Greek stuff -- but
there are many beautiful European paintings from the 1500s-1800s. Van
Gogh's Irises is there -- it sold for $53.9 million back in 1987. Within
the past two months I've been at the National Gallery in Washington DC and
at the Louvre in Paris and I think the average quality of the art at the
Getty is just as good as either of those places (the Louvre is better than
the National Gallery!), but there isn't as much of it. The Getty also is
a very nice set of buildings with a great little garden and an excellent
view of the city at night.
