Interestingly, they also sell $150 and $300 systems (so the line-up
goes: $40, $70, $150, $300). I'm not sure why anybody would buy a
$300 powered speaker system, but there you go.

I paid > 200 GBP - circa $300 for my Cambridge Soundworks 3500 powered
speakers.

Why?

Because I have an Sonic Vortex 2 soundcard with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound and
an Optical output. So I have two choices, spend around 200 GBP on an Ampa dn
then even more on speakers which would definately have been over the top, or
compromise on the ones I got and enjoy some nice sound when I watch DVD's in
bed on the TV which I feed through an Radeon 7500 All in Wonder giving me
good quality DVD's or if I'm using the TV input, the equivilent of a TiVo.
