OK, the top-line card they offer is a NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti with 128 MB
of DDR SDRAM. The ATI Radeon 9000 Pro has 64 MB of DDR SDRAM, while
the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX card on the low end model has only 256 times
as much RAM as the first Mac (i.e., 32 MB).

Yes, that would be a relative advantage for the G4 over the Athlon.
I believe a PowerBook uses exactly the same G4 CPU as a desktop
model does.
On the other hand, the new PowerMac case is designed to dissipate a
*lot* of heat, so either the new dual processor machines or their
planned successors are probably not running that cool. (Or maybe
it's the contribution from the video card; I saw high-end cases
recently that would directly fan and vent your video card...)
