Technically, if someone watches you enter your PIN, then steals your debit
card, the only thing you can do is hopefully cancel the card before they use
it, but the same is true of someone who steals your credit card and forges
your signature. Credit cards offer other services such as a variety of
programs to get your money back from faulty merchandise, but most debit
cards can do that now as well, because they run through a credit card's
network. Something to watch out for, though - according to the news, some
places have started charging you to use your PIN number for your debit card,
basically because they make more money off a credit card.
