Indeed. If you're going to fake lost data, at least put a gibberish file on
there. Rename a small .exe to .doc or something before you break it.
I'd rather you didn't fake the lost data though, I've actually had my disk
corrupt just before a project was due twice. A powerpoint file corrupted in
an engineering class, crashing the program at slide 3 each time, and a
semmester's worth of internship forms were on a disk that corrupted when I
went to print it out.
Fortunately I had a backup copy of the powerpoint file, unfortunately not
quickly enough for the teacher - he said he'd give us 5 minutes to fix it,
but didn't give me enough time to walk back to my desk, let alone grab my
backup file off the server.
Most of the internship files I had already printed out and turned in, so I
only had to recreate about 5 reports. I at least got that one turned in on
time..
