I'm still fighting with this shitty Compaq Deskpro XL 590 I got. Upgraded
the bios, downloaded the system config utility to access the bios (a
horribly designed program), installed an ide cd-rom which the bios claims
was detected. There is no way to boot from the cd-rom so okay I put a
boot floppy with the install image on it in. Loads okay, detects the
cd-rom drive (known to be working), then just throws shit loads of drive
access errors and won't access the cd. What a pain. May try a network
install (if it's built-in ethernet port will work).
The girl who stoops to conquer usually wears a low-cut dress.
