Except for the case, the new ones seem to be using more standard parts,
including sound-CARDS instead of sound chips on the motherboard. At least
the case fits standard parts now, but it still has an unusual design and is
hard to upgrade. Mine has a thumbscrew and a release lever to open the side
pannel and get to most things with ease, but replacing the motherboard would
be hell. It would be worth getting a new case, just in the labor hours
you'd spend on it.
