Which is probably why the bastards insist on leaving useless shit like a
tv tuner in the tv. Why would I want to tune the tv in this day and age?
It just adds useless shit to the screen. I want a box for videos, one for
dvd, several for games, one for sound, one for a clock, and one for tv
tuning if I wanted tv tuning. I don't want each individual component to
try to do what each of the others is supposed to do. A VCR or TiVo with tv
tuning abilities makes sense but really the tv shouldn't do this anymore.
It should be only a monitor. Imagine being able to select the desired
channel on just one device! Wow. If they could invent a single interface
for all the devices to negotiate their controls into a single menu/remote
system that'd be great too. It sucks ass to need half a dozen controllers
to watch tv (even including the universal controller).
