More to the point, sick and tired of being forced to pay for an education
their children don't get. My parents paid marginally above average taxes,
so I know they paid my way through school, but due to a run of very bad
teachers and school staff, decided it would be safer to home school me. The
clincher was when the school counselor told mom that the school could, and
would, put me on meds without her consent. Apparently this lethargic child
was hyperactive. After a first grade teacher who was physically abusive, a
second grade teacher who was verbally abusive, and a third grade teacher who
was simply apathetic, my parents gave up on public education when they
threatened drugs. My family re-entered the public education system in 1995,
when I entered 11th grade. My brothers entered 5th and 1st grade a few
years later. We've been relatively satisfied with the improvements over the
years, though they still need a better rein on their PE teachers and
accountants.

Not yet, but they will be lobby'd into trying.
